Ausangate Trek 5D/4N
- 5 Days

Description
The Ausangate Trek 5D/4N is one of the most breathtaking and challenging trekking experiences in the Peruvian Andes. This adventure takes you through the stunning Cordillera Vilcanota, home to the imposing Ausangate Mountain (6,385m / 20,948ft) and three other peaks exceeding 6,000m. Along the way, you will encounter turquoise lakes, hanging glaciers, vast herds of llamas and alpacas, and traditional Andean villages where locals still wear their colorful, ancestral clothing. This trek is ideal for those seeking an authentic high-altitude adventure surrounded by spectacular scenery.
The Ausangate Trek 5D/4N begins in the small Andean village of Tinqui, from where we embark on a circuit that encircles the Ausangate massif, crossing three high-altitude passes, two of which exceed 5,000 meters (16,400 ft). The journey offers an extraordinary contrast between snow-capped peaks, red-hued mountains, and deep green valleys, making every step a truly unforgettable experience.
This trek requires proper acclimatization due to its high altitude, so we recommend spending at least three days in Cusco or a similar altitude before beginning the hike. The route also offers the opportunity to relax in natural hot springs, a perfect way to unwind after a long day of trekking.
The Ausangate Trek 5D/4N is best done between April and November, when the weather is more stable, providing clear skies and stunning panoramic views. If you are looking for an off-the-beaten-path adventure, far from the crowds, this trek is the perfect choice. Challenge yourself, explore the Andean wilderness, and experience one of Peru’s most awe-inspiring trekking routes!
